Brand Name: Viatran
Composition: Cefoperazone, Sulbactam
Mechanism of Action:
Third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic cefoperazone works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls, which eventually results in cell death. It is frequently used in conjunction with sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that stops some resistant bacteria from degrading ceftriaxone, to increase its efficacy. Disodium edetate also acts as a stabilizer in this formulation, which lowers toxicity and improves the antibiotic's general stability. These elements complement one another to enhance the effectiveness of treatment for bacterial infections
