Brand Name: Nindanib

Composition: Nintedanib

Mechanism of Action:

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptors are the specific targets of nintedanib's inhibition of tyrosine kinase receptors. Signaling mechanisms that lead to aberrant blood vessel development and cell proliferation are disrupted by this activity. Nintedanib efficiently blocks fibrosis pathways by decreasing fibroblast activation and proliferation, which slows lung scarring in diseases such idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Inhibiting receptor tyrosine kinases also contributes to its anticancer effects by reducing lung cancer cell proliferation and tumor vascularization, or blood supply.

Uses:

  • Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • Systemic Sclerosis-Associated Interstitial Lung Disease
  • Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Dosage and Administration:

One 150mg capsule taken twice a day, roughly 12 hours apart, is the standard dosage. In order to increase absorption and lessen gastrointestinal adverse effects, capsules should be taken with food. Instead of chewing or crushing them, they should be consumed whole with water.
