Composition: Imipenem, Cilastatin

Mechanism of Action:

Imipenem inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to cell lysis and death. Whereas Cilastatin Blocks the enzyme dehydropeptidase in the kidneys, which normally deactivates imipenem. This ensures that imipenem reaches the systemic circulation intact and can perform its antibacterial action.
