Mechanism of Action:

Doxycycline is an antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline class that prevents bacteria from synthesizing proteins. By attaching itself to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, it prevents aminoacyl-tRNA from joining the mRNA-ribosome complex. This effectively stops bacterial growth by preventing amino acids from being added to the expanding peptide chain (bacteriostatic action).
