Mechanism of Action:

Colistin interacts with the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) layer of Gram-negative bacterial membranes, increasing membrane permeability. This results in the leakage of intracellular contents and ultimately bacterial death. It is highly effective against multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, and certain Enterobacteriaceae.
