Mechanism of Action:

Fondaparinux functions by blocking the production of Factor Xa, a protein that contributes to the formation of blood clots. It increases its ability to inactivate Factor Xa by attaching itself to antithrombin III. This mode of action stops prothrombin from being converted to thrombin, which is an essential step in the formation of blood clots. By taking this measure, existing clots are prevented from spreading and new clots are prevented from forming.

Dosage and Administration:

The injection is administered subcutaneously (under the skin), typically in the lower abdominal area. Depending on the clinical situation, it can also be administered intravenously. The patient's weight, age, and condition all affect the dosage. Typically, it is given once day.
