Mechanism of Action:
Ceftazidime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that causes cell lysis and death by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls. Avibactam is an non-beta-lactam beta-lactamase inhibitor that increases ceftazidime's effectiveness against infections that manufacture beta-lactamases by shielding it from being broken down by specific enzymes made by resistant bacteria.
