Erypeg 50mcg Injection is a pegylated recombinant human erythropoietin injection that is primarily used to treat anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), cancer chemotherapy, and other conditions that cause low red blood cell counts.
If you have heart disease, gout, or high blood pressure, let your doctor know before taking this drug. You should also let them know about any other medications you are taking. Regular blood pressure checks are recommended, and since the consequences of pregnancy and breastfeeding on an unborn child are unclear, you should talk to your doctor about them.
Brand Name: Erypeg
Composition: Pegylated Recombinant Human Erythropoietin
Mechanism of Action:
The kidneys naturally create erythropoietin, a hormone that controls the synthesis of red blood cells. The synthetic version of this hormone found in Erypeg 30 is pegylated, or bound to polyethylene glycol, to prolong its half-life in the blood. Compared to non-pegylated forms of erythropoietin, the pegylation increases stability and duration of effect, requiring fewer doses.
Uses:
Anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease
Anemia Due to Chemotherapy
Anemia in HIV-Infected Patients
Dosage and Administration:
Erypeg 50 is often injected subcutaneously, or behind the skin, in the upper arm, thigh, or abdomen. The patient's weight, the underlying reason of their anemia, and their response to treatment all influence the precise dosage.
