Composition: Teriparatide

Mechanism of Action:

A recombinant version of parathyroid hormone called teriparatide aids in controlling the metabolism of phosphorus and calcium in bones. It increases bone density and fosters the growth of new bone by stimulating osteoblasts, the cells that make up bone.

Uses:

         Osteoporosis in Postmenopausal Women

         Primary or Hypogonadal Osteoporosis in Men

         Glucocorticoid-Induced Osteoporosis

         Severe Bone Loss

Dosage and Administration:

Typically, 20mcg once daily is administered as a subcutaneous injection, usually into the thigh or abdomen.
